Hosting the website in your own will incur more money and you need some sort of deep knowledge on it. if you follow the below-stated steps you can run the website in no time.
If you have an Old PC/Laptop you can use it to set up the hosting server.
- 1.6 GHz CPU
- 2GB RAM
- 250GB HDD
- 3.5 GHz CPU
- 8GB RAM
- 256 SSD
Am gonna use Ubuntu Server to create this. Stay with me and focus care fully.
Get ready with your old laptop/PC from your side.
In my case, I am using HP Pavilion DV6
- 2.9GHz processor
- 6GB RAM
- 500 GB HDD
Note – you need the internet to connect the laptop with LAN.
first, I will guide you through creating a Bootable USB Drive.
Take around 4GB USB Pen drive and download ubuntu server and USB bootable creator.
Ubuntu server download here: https://www.ubuntu.com/download/server
Don’t forget to download the LTS version. Support guaranteed until April 2023,
USB bootable creator: https://rufus.ie/
Both of the Softwares I stated above are opensource so no need to worry about the cost or license issues.
Once Ubuntu server IOS file has been downloaded. Create your bootable USB drive and running Rufus.exe files.
You can check out on how to to do that through this video.
Once you have created the USB bootable Ubuntu server then boot the system from USB and follow the instruction as below.
Installing and configuring the ubuntu server for web hosting.
Install the USB bootable driver and boot from USB.
Select your language then click enter in the keyboard.
Configure the keyboard language then click done. It will take some time to apply the settings.
Once you select the language and keyboard settings then select “Install Ubuntu” option. and then move on to the next step, which is to configure the IP address.
Step 4 is to configure the Static IP address or keep it as DHCP Whichever you prefer, but I changed it to Static IP because I want to manage on my own way.
Note – if you want to publish the web hosting outside your local network, you will be needing a static IP address in the web hosting ubuntu server instead of a DHCP.
Select the Ubuntu archive mirror and click done.
Choose the partition to install the Ubuntu server as below in this case I am using the complete system as a server so I choose the entire disk. then click done and continue with the installation.
Once the Installation has been completed
Configure the profile and make sure you remember the username, password and most importantly the IP address for this server.
Select the “Install Open SSH Server” then click done.
Once you clicked done, the process will be completed and your PC will restart
Now you have completed the ubuntu server installation.
You can watch the same configuration videos on our youtube channel.
